Jafilia is going PRO, you decide how!

There are a few selected people who need a lot more from Jafilia.

We are willing to serve our professional customers with professional services. Now it is up to YOU to choose whether one or another business model better fits your professional needs.

At this moment we have to choose from several different ways to offer these PRO services.

Press the "read more" link to know more about the possible options.

I have open a new discussion section on the forums for discussing this particular.

NOTE: Jafilia is and will always maintain it's FOSS (Free Open Source Software) version up to date and supported. That said, you all know we were planning to go PRO someday, since the inception of this project. This moment will soon arrive; there will be 2 Jafilia versions being developed in parallel with different feature sets, advanced (PRO) features would be specially implemented for the paid version on customer request.

Option 1: Sell the PRO version at a fixed price. Pretty old and well proven way of doing business indeed.

  • When you buy the software you are entitled for a special forum and a ticketing system for fast support for 1 year.
  • You would have to buy the newer versions or upgrades to newer versions if your license is older than, let's say... 1 year.
  • You pay let's say USD 48.00, Upfront.

Option 2: Membership community. This is been lately a very popular option for other software publishers, specially in the Joomla! template market.

  • You get any new version of Jafilia as long as you still a member and you would have access to a special forum and a ticketing system for fast support.
  • We would be also be providing professional and fast support for  Virtuemart and Joomla! for our members.
  • We would be also developing. maintaining and supporting two or three e-commerce optimized templates for our community.
  • You pay a low fee every month , let's say USD 4.80/month.

Option 3: SaaS (Software as a Service). Latest trend in the software development and delivery market.

  • You get an already installed and working installation of Joomla! + Virtuemart + Jafilia + pre-installed templates and some work saving bells and whistles along with the hosting service.
  • Everything works perfectly from minute 1, thus saving you lots of installation and configuration time.
  • Professional support is included for the full package, including Joomla, VirtueMart, Jafilia and any components, modules or plug-ins.
  • Unified and Standar Platform for everyone, so there are less bugs, these are solved faster, and once solved the fix is put online for everyone, instantly, without you even noticing in most cases.
  • Care Free: with automatic and Instant Fixes, patches and upgrades for Joomla, Virtuemart and Jafilia. Upgrades, updates and fixes are automatic and instant for everyone. You don't have to care for updating your Joomla or Virtuemart never again.
  • Worry Free: You don't have to care anymore for any server side problems.
  • Serious platform optimization: We fully control the server platform and fully support it. We decide which is the software running on it, so we can work on some serious optimization of the platform for running Joomla!, Virtuemart and Jafilia.
  • You pay a fixed fee of let's say USD 7.45. including all the above AND the hosting services. That would mean no extra cost for you as you would NOT have to pay your actual ISP or hosting provider anymore.

DOWNSIDE of SaaS: Standarization is good... most of the times... There would be some limitation on the type and number of modules being supported, meaning you will be always be free to add or remove components and modules as usual, but some may not have full support... so if you need a very special set of components or modules this one could not be the best option for you.

bbgood  - Why not offer all three   |74.56.106.xxx |2009-10-04 13:48:12
This way, the user selects which is best. The way you have outlined it seems gr
eat on all three leve ls.

I for one enjoy having a choice of services r ather t
hen one canned one.

This way if I need mor e, I opt-in for the next choice that
suits my need s.

I agree with bbgood, why not offer all three?
Yosu Cadilla   |SAdministrator |2009-10-04 18:15:55
You are soooo right... Guess you basically mean we  should be offering all
3 possible solutions and l et every user choose what's best for him...

In
fa ct, options 1 and 2 don't require a big deal of ef fort to be put o
nline. It is option 3 that would r equire a whole new line of work with the
server st uff.

The question could be: ¿Is anyone interested  on opti
on 3?
Because it seems like a really nice  way to go, but it would need a g
reat deal of resou rces and time to put it online.

So, as bbgood is
proposing, we will offer options 1 and 2 straight  away, but we would need,
let's say… 25 people inte rested in option 3 to start it up...

If you think option 3 is something you could be us ing someday, please just
add a +1 here or in the f orums so we know there is enough people interest
ed  in it to start it up.

I think, that the third will not be popular, becau se people, coming here, in mo
st cases, have workin g sites on joomla and (possibly) VM and are lookin g just
for an affiliate component to widen their s ites functionalyty. Hardly they desi
de to give som e one controll on working projects

ssnobben  - To much work with no 3 to start with now   |Editor |2009-10-13 07:26:32
I think no 1 and no 2 is better options to start w ith.

What you need is also
that people can get i n and help and update the software with patches up dates i
mprovments etc continously.

Look at jfusi on.org that have been very succesful
setting up a structure for people helping with the dev and more .

I am sure
that Jafilia fills a big gap for the Joomla community i f you manage this proje
ct corr ect.

As it is now the dev going to slow to get p eople have attention
to competative solutions and that a negative impression people may feel.

But
I hope Jafilia can take on a be another succesful Joomla project bcs its neede
d! all the best!

This is(are) the point(s): a)We want to dedicate m ore time to it. b)We have to
make some money out o f it in order tobe able to dedicate more than just our sp
are time. c) With options 1 and 2, there wo uld be 2 versions of Jafilia, the fr
ee and the pro (not free, not open), which is probably not what 90% of the com
munity is looking for.
With Option 3 , the software could remain with just one f
ree ver sion and we would try to make money out of the hos ting and services.

Well hope you come up with new version after your decisions bcs you are close t
o get over the first edge to prove you are to count on for this for man y Jooml
a user important feature!

Just communicate with the progress you are doing so
people can fol low your progress. Maybe set up a Twitter account connected to t
he page here so people can get info. ..There is Joomla addons to fix this check
JED.

a ll the best!

I need to have Affiliate Marketing software soon. There are this VirtueMart Mar
keting Affiliate , Vi rtueMart Affiliate, Affiliate PRO and Jafilia. Wha t's you
r price for a license?

Option 3 I would never sign on for as I would neve r let anybody else doing
my business and I trust m y servers only

I would sell it in a mixture
of  option 1 and 2 as you buy the program once and yo u can signup for
extended support, like priority s upport for e.g.

Zappu
Joomla Media Services

Thank you for your feedback! You are obviously rig th, there is no reason why WE
should choose one or another if we can offer all 3 and let YOU choose wich on
e better fits your needs.
Any way, as optio n 3 seems not to be as popular as th
e others, we w ill save it for the last.

Following your advice, and taking it
one step further into our plans, I w as wondering if it would be a good idea to
divide the offering even more...
The point is, divide the possible offerings a
t "atomic" level so a ny one can peak what he needs.
as an example: inst
ead of just offering a pro community, we will offe r:
- tickets by the unit
-
5 tickets package
- monthly subscriptions (pro community)

I have been revie
wing the Support offerings around VM and it seems the only succesful model are
individual tick ets to solve specific problems.
(Please let me kno w if you have
proove about it being otherwise).

It really won't matter to me if it is monthly or p ay up front as I am looking f
or a higher grade sol ution that would need to be customized (I hope you will b
e able to do that.

So the SaaS option woul d not work for me.

Also I want to o
wn it so if I grow the business big and sell it, it goes with th e business whi
ch will bring a higher price at the exit strategy.

What i need is an affiliate program that offers 5 tier levels deep and unlimite
d wide. Flexible com mission structure for each level such as 5% paid o n all l
evel one sales, 4% on level 2, 3% on level 3, 2% on level 3 and 1% on level 5.
Commission pay outs for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly commissions and at least p
aypal and authroize.net as payment p lans. These are the things I think need to
be add ed to make it work for my program. cheers. If yo u want a ginny pig fo
r testing let me know.
